My
name is Elisa and I'm a 4th year Applied Mathematics major. Before coming to
Berkeley, I played golf seriously for about ten years, and also planned to play
the sport professionally one day. Thus, I attended middle/high school and some college in
Florida, a place ideal for golfers. At one point however, I figured out that I
enjoyed studying mathematics more than practicing and playing golf. So I
stopped playing and started focusing more on my studies, and decided to come
over to California.
Climbing
Mt. Fuji last year is one of my greatest accomplishments so far. Climbing it
was extremely tough, but it became an unforgettable experience, so I hope to go
back to it once more. After graduating this May, I plan to either work in the
U.S or in Japan.
Hi Elisa,
ReplyDeleteYou climbed up Mt Fuji !! Wow - that's very impressive ! Great story - I imagine it was tough.
Playing golf for 10 years? You must be a pro ! Actually I had a question - where can you play golf on campus ?
THANKS
Hi Yuliya,
DeleteI played golf for around 13 years, but I don't anymore.
I stopped playing after I came to Berkeley.
Anyways, the closest golf course around campus is Tilden Park, which is way up the hill!
You should still try to play golf! If this Applied Mathematics thing doesn't work, you can go pro and play in the PGA.
ReplyDeleteHello Elisa! Wow what an awesome accomplishment in climbing Mt. Fuji.
ReplyDeleteDo you hike a lot?
I was wondering if you could recommend some trails around the SF-Berkeley Area.
No, I don't hike a lot...but maybe I will once I graduate!?
DeleteSo I'm not too familiar with trails around here...yet.
Hi, Elisa. Do you know when is the best time to climb Mt. Fuji?
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure anytime between mid July and the end of August is the best time. Any other time would be too cold, especially once you get to the top.
DeleteA friend of mine also moved to Florida to pursue a professional career in golf. I, on the other hand, was never good enough despite my friends' claims that my mechanical engineering major would help me.. Good luck on your last semester!
ReplyDeleteWow, playing golf professionally huh? That's impressive!
